Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the roles, responsibilities and work settings of community nutrition professionals. 2. explain how to assess the nutrition needs of individuals and communities. 3. explain how federal nutrition programs meet the unique needs of individuals across the lifespan with particular emphasis on food insecurity. 4. evaluate the role of environment, food and lifestyle choices to develop interventions to affect change and enhance wellness in diverse individuals and groups. 5. demonstrate effective and professional oral and written communication and documentation and use of current information technologies when communicating with individuals, groups and the public. 6. explain the impact of a policy position on dietetics practice. 7. explain how advances in food science and technology alter the food system in ways that affect health disparities related to food insecurity.
