WMST 420 - Gender and the Social Sciences (3 units) Gender through the lens of the social sciences, such as political science, sociology, anthropology, psychology and economics.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify and critically reflect on gender as a major category of social analysis. 2. demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which gender intersects with race, class, nationality, and sexuality. 3. locate, understand, and critically review gender theories and research within the interdisciplinary field of Social Studies of Gender and in relation to sexuality, ethnicity and class. 4. demonstrate an understanding of the usefulness of feminist and gender theoretical perspectives in social science research. 5. apply feminist and gender theoretical perspectives to social science.
