GRI 451 - Senior Thesis I (3 units) Directed research on a focused topic in the Gender, Race, and Identity major; concludes with a thesis proposal to guide work in GRI 452: Senior Thesis II.
Prerequisite(s): GRI 103 or 12 units in GRI/WMST; and Junior or Senior standing.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply critical thinking skills to issues of gender, race, and/or other facets of social and cultural identity, inequality, and difference. 2. develop and articulate an original research question to pursue in a research project. 3. develop and communicate appropriate knowledge in the theories, methods, contexts, and/or other scholarly fields necessary to inform their research project. 4. write a research proposal explaining a research question, methods, and knowledge in a format appropriate to the academic discipline(s) that inform the student’s project.
