NURS 475 - Population Health Theory (3 units) CO10 Uses critical analyses and clinical reasoning in caring for groups and populations across sociocultural settings. Focuses on primary, secondary, and tertiary disease prevention as well as health promotion.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. assess the health of populations to respond appropriately to community needs and identify desired outcomes. 2. examine influencing factors that can shape caring for diverse populations to provide equitable care. 3. describe the impact of policies on population’s health, including social justice and health equity. 4. develop plans of care using evidence-based interventions that promote social justice and optimizes the health of populations. 5. describe the nurse’s role when encountering health and safety hazards while providing care. 6. identify what constitutes a public health emergency and the nurse’s role in the public health response to promote community safety.
