COM 765 - Communication and Engagement (3 units) Explores theoretical and methodological approaches of community engaged scholarship in communication studies including communication activism research, participatory action research, service-learning, and civic engagement.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify and evaluate theories, conceptual frameworks, and methodologies of engaged scholarship. 2. analyze and problem-solve community or social issues with attention to power and structures. 3. develop relational and collaborative skills to work with community partners. 4. apply theory and method to complete community engaged projects. 5. reflect on ethical issues related to community engaged scholarship.
