Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. understand how the relationship between Indigenous populations and education evolved within cultural and historical social perspectives.
2. systematically analyze how Indigenous frameworks are included/excluded from school curricula.
3. inquire and familiarize yourself with the complexity and dynamic character of Indigenous identities within a social context.
4. demonstrate understanding and respect for diversities in cultural perspectives and behaviors by synthesizing course material and exploring Indigenous knowledge production and transmission.
5. apply critical thinking, writing, creativity and public speaking skills to propose culturally responsive teaching approaches with a focus on Indigenous knowledge.
6. examine and critique Westernized curricula in order to develop material that aim to decolonize curriculum and teaching for a more ethical approach to education.
