CHE 311 - Engineering Thermodynamics I (3 units) Principles of engineering thermodynamics. A study of the first and second laws, entropy, ideal and real gases, and second-law analysis of engineering systems. (CHE 311 and ME 311 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 181 with a “C” or better and CHEM 121A with a “C” or better or CHEM 201 . Corequisite(s): PHYS 181 for CHE majors.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 2. develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
