GEOG 440 - Mountain Geography (3 units) CO9 Geographic investigation of various mountain regions. Field study in the Sierra Nevada and basin-range mountains emphasizing man’s impact on the mountain environment.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the physical processes that exist in mountain environments and the geo-ecological processes that shape them. 2. demonstrate an understanding of hazards, climate change, and the political economy of mountain regions. 3. analyze the impacts of natural and/or human caused climate changes on physical processes that are dominate in mountain environments and the associated affects on resources and society.
