IS 201 - Computer Applications (3 units) Advanced topics in spreadsheets, microcomputer-based database management systems and macro-programming.
Prerequisite(s): IS 101 .

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. define a business-related application system and categorize systems by size and complexity. 2. describe the steps required to develop a technology-based business-related application system. 3. explain the characteristics of effective computer technology supported information visualization methods. 4. describe how technology-based data storage methods affect the display of information. 5. identify the data necessary to be stored in an application system from existing reports and forms. 6. design a database for a small business-related application system. 7. use two software packages (Microsoft’s Excel and Access) to create small business-related application systems.
