NURS 301 - Health Assessment of the Individual (3 units) Foundations of health assessment which includes gathering, analyzing, synthesizing, communicating and documenting data to make nursing clinical judgments.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. recognize assessment techniques that collect objective and subjective data pertinent to the individual’s health or situation. 2. evaluate clinical situations and patient conditions to choose the correct type of assessment and select prioritized assessment techniques. 3. interpret patterns found in data collection and assessment findings to inform care and evaluate patient outcomes. 4. describe how therapeutic communication establishes and maintains the nurse-client relationship. 5. identify how health care information technologies are used in health assessment. 6. use appropriate medical terminology to describe assessment findings in communicating with the interprofessional healthcare team.
