NURS 332 - Pathophysiology and Pharmacology II

Expands on principles of pathophysiology of select body systems and pharmacological management of common disease processes. Emphasis on safety and the nurses’ role in medication administration.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Nursing major.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. examine the pathogenesis, progression of pathophysiology, presentation, and treatment of selected disease processes to provide safe care.
2. identify medication properties and nursing considerations for selected disease processes to provide safe medication administration.
3. demonstrate the nurse’s role in management and administration of medications to ensure safe practice.
4. discuss the ethical and moral nursing responsibilities in safe medication administration.
5. recognize the interactive effects of polypharmacy on the aging population.
