SOC 245 - The Future of Work (3 units) CO9 An introduction to the sociology of work focusing on how science and technology are changing the nature of work and its impact on individuals, groups, and communities.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain how science and technology are changing the nature of work and the workplace. 2. describe how changes in the workplace brought about by scientific and technological advances impact workers, families, communities, and society. 3. discuss the differential impact of the changing nature of work and the workplace on workers as related to their race, gender, and social class. 4. identify ethical concerns of science and technology’s impact on workers in the workplace.
