ACE 310 - Building Community through Technology (3 units) CO9 This course will highlight campus information and access resources available to students as part of the university community, including access to technology and digital literacy curriculum. Discussions and assignments will center around meaningful community engagement, ethics, and technology, especially as it relates to the benefits and pitfalls of connectivity and the importance of accessibility. Students will work in teams to create mobile app prototypes, exploring the app design process without needing coding skills.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 102
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate awareness of academic and career resources available to students, and evaluate the effectiveness of their ability to meet your needs and the needs of other students. 2. identify how technology and tech companies connect individuals, institutions and communities and the cultural implications of this connectivity. 3. consider strategies and responsibilities technology companies have in narrowing the digital divide. 4. critically asses how apps provide experiences and accommodations for diverse populations. 5. apply course themes to the creation of an app.
