AM 300 - Advanced ASL Conversation (3 units) This course offers students a deeper understanding of natural American Sign Language in conversational settings. Students will gain practice in applying an advanced vocabulary in discussing a broad range of conversational topics in ASL. In addition, they will continue to develop skills in facial expressions, body language, and the use of classifiers to communicate about complex topics.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate a higher level of expressive fluency when participating in dynamic conversations in ASL including slang and idioms. 2. distinguish between commonly confused signs by utilizing the context of a conversation. 3. produce appropriate use of classifiers, expressions, and body language to communicate effectively in natural, flowing ASL conversations. 4. demonstrate a greater understanding of signed conversation through the use of receptive skills.
