ART 103A - Visual Foundations: Surface (3 units) CO7 This is an introductory course with a focus on contemporary two-dimensional art practices, visual culture and literacy, observational skills, conceptual development, and analog and digital artmaking. Students will make artworks manually, digitally, and through hybrid processes in traditional art studios and fabrication spaces at UNR.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply hands-on artistic skills and develop creative agency in a range of two-dimensional interdisciplinary artistic media and site-specific activities. 2. critique artwork within historical and contemporary art contexts through written and oral communication. 3. design and execute a self-directed creative project through a process of proposal, revision, completion, and reflection.
