ART 425 - Advanced Studio Practice (3 units) CO14 This course is designed for self-directed and motivated students to develop independent artwork in pursuit of their art professions. Through studio work, critique sessions, discussions, and writings, students will gain insight into what it means to be an artist today by identifying their audiences, contexts, processes, research, and challenges.
Maximum units a student may earn: 3
Prerequisite(s): Completion of all General Education courses CO1-8; Junior or Senior standing; completion of two studio art courses
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 1 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 2 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. pursue creative and scholarly research to critically inform the production of a cohesive body of work. 2. evaluate, synthesize, and communicate their understanding of visual art and design in relation to historical precedents and the contemporary global context through the production of work and within critique sessions. 3. demonstrate professional practice methods through the presentation of work and its documentation, written and oral communication, and through effective collaboration with others.
