ENGR 162 - Exploring Art and Engineering (3 units) CO7, CO9 The course integrates principles of art with engineering, exploring how the fields intersect, support, and enhance one another. Students will survey works of engineering and art, learning how design and scientific principles apply to a diversity of artistic and technological media. The course emphasizes communication of ideas and research through presentations, reports, and hands-on projects using a variety of media.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply techniques of critical analysis to the study and interpretation of the arts (which includes such disciplines as dance, music, theater, visual art, and creative writing) in the context of culture, society, and individual identity. 2. apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. 3. communicate effectively with a range of audiences. 4. acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
