SOC 709 - Social Psychology Theory (3 units) This course is a broad overview of both sociological and psychological perspectives on social psychology, noting the reciprocal relationship between society and the individual person. Topics included are: groups, stratification, attitudes, emotions, social influence, behavior, and self and identity. Students will gain an understanding of theory and how social psychology research is conducted.

Prerequisite(s): Sociology MA student or instructor permission.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. synthesize, interpret, contrast, and assess previous research. 2. describe, defend, and explain a unique position about a topic based on previous social-psychological research and theory. 3. create and design innovative methods to study social-psychological topics. 4. make unbiased conclusions based on social-psychological research rather than values or opinions.
