Health Administration and Policy, M.P.H.

The Health Administration and Policy specialization is designed for individuals interested in pursuing leadership and administrative positions in many arenas in health services. The curriculum centers on management principles, information management, policy development and understanding, and other methods to advance the health of communities. Graduates are prepared for a full range of careers in health care administration, including management, consulting, planning, and marketing positions In a wide range of health care settings, (such as healthy departments, hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care facilities, insurers , and managed care organizations).

I. MPH Core Courses (18 units)

In addition to the MPH core courses listed above, students in the Health Administration and Policy specialization also take the courses below. Please note the course progression. A. Health Administration and Policy Core (12 units)
B. Eligible Electives (6 units)
Students may sign up for electives in other departments with advisor approval. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain approval and determine if prerequisites are needed BEFORE signing up for the course. C. MPH Culminating Experience (9 units)

MSN/MPH Examining Committee
As the nature of the dual degree indicates, a Master’s Examining Committee will be formed by the faculty of both programs. The Committee collaborates to support the MSN/MPH Internship (covered by NURS 759 / NURS 760 ) and the MPH Capstone course (which will include a professional paper). The composition of this 4 member committee will include: MSN advisor, MPH advisor, Graduate School Representative, and a Community Preceptor. |
