Undergraduate programs in Geological Sciences are focused on learning about the major earth systems and the geologic processes that create and shape them. Study of geologic systems includes coursework to develop an in-depth understanding of earth surface processes, earth materials and geochemistry, structure and tectonics, rock forming processes and paleoecology. Skills in interpreting geological data are gained through work in the classroom, laboratory, computer simulations, and in the field.

I. Program Requirements (19 units)
The following courses are recommended for students seeking a degree with a minor in Geological Sciences. These students must select a minor-program advisor in the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering and must have their program approved.
A. Required Courses (4 units)
B. GEOL Elective (6 units)
Choose at least 6 units from the following:
C. Geological Sciences Elective (9 units)
Choose 300-400 level courses in GEOL, GE, or GPH in consultation with your advisor to fulfill this requirement.
