Latin American Studies, Minor

The minor in Latin American Studies is offered through the College of Liberal Arts and coordinated by the International Affairs Program. The minor includes courses delving into the history and culture of the region, taught through six cooperating departments and programs. It also takes advantage of established University Studies Abroad Consortium programs.

I. Program Requirements (21 units)
- Minor GPA | 2.0
- Minor Upper-Division Units | 9
- Minor Residency Requirement | 6 Upper-Division Units in the minor at UNR
- Unit Limits: Per College of Liberal Arts policy, no more than 9 units counted toward any major may be reused to meet the requirements of this minor.
To complete the minor in Latin American Studies, students must earn 21 credits, including courses in at least three areas: A. Foundational Course (3 units)
B. Spanish (0-6 units)
Students may use upper-division Spanish language courses toward their Latin American Studies minor. Upper-division language courses are not required for this minor. C. Latin American History (6-9 units)
