The Risk and Insurance Minor is designed to guide students to be effective in a career in insurance and risk management and related fields through experiential learning, studying industry-approved coursework, and developing necessary soft skills, such as—communication, teamwork, interpersonal, creativity, and problem-solving, to name a few. As the need to protect a company’s assets remains at the forefront, and as the risks of disrupting those assets continue to grow at an alarming rate, understanding insurance and risk management has become a complex field in high demand for all employers. *All course prerequisites must be met for all coursework for the minor.

A. Required Courses (12 units)
B. Additional Upper-Division Courses (6 units)
Two courses (6 units) from the following list:
Note(s):
- Six (6) of the required upper-division units must be completed at UNR.
- Nine (9) or more units used for any minor at UNR must be upper-division coursework.
- Business students must have a declared major in order to declare a business minor.
