Epidemiology and Biostatistics Graduate Certificate
|

The Epidemiology and Biostatistics Graduate Certificate consists of 4 courses (12 credits) that provide quantitative training for working public health professionals who lack academic preparation or individuals interested in pursuing a career in epidemiology or biostatistics. This graduate certificate is available to people who already have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and wish to add public health foundational competencies to their body of knowledge.
Students who wish to advance to the MPH in Epidemiology degree or the MS in Health Analytics degree in the School of Public Health may apply 12 certificate credits toward their MPH or MS degree upon application and admission to the program.
Note: Students who are enrolled in this certificate program solely are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Apply epidemiological methods to settings and situations in public health practice
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming and software, as appropriate
- Implement data management techniques using SAS or other statistical software
- Construct epidemiologic models using statistical programming
- Investigate informatics methods and resources as strategic tools to promote public health

Admission Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, with an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale: If your undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 but higher than 2.75 your application will be considered if your GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework is 3.0 or higher.
- Completion of an undergraduate or graduate course in statistics.
Application is made directly to the Graduate School of the University of Nevada, Reno.
