Through the department’s skills-based curriculum, history students learn how to think and write like historians. History faculty teach students to think contextually, read historical documents, and become better researchers and writers.

The American history minor surveys United States history from before the colonial period to the twenty-first century. Specialized coursework includes courses in American social and cultural movements, diverse populations in U.S. history, and the history of the American West.
