Legal Studies, Minor

The Legal Studies minor exposes students to interdisciplinary perspectives on major social issues. The minor’s broad curriculum allows students to familiarize themselves with the fields of law, criminal justice, public policy, mass communication, social justice and the U.S. legal system. It combines courses in history, philosophy, political science, writing, and journalism.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to: - communicate ideas, perspectives, and arguments effectively through oral and written formats.
- conduct meaningful analysis and assessment by applying quantitative and qualitative skills.
- analyze, evaluate and interpret available facts, evidence, observations, and arguments to make sound conclusions or informed choices.
- identify the key philosophical, professional, and ethics foundations of law and legal systems.
I. Program Requirements (21 units)
Students with majors in any field may minor in Legal Studies by completing the following: - Minor GPA | 2.0
- Minor Upper-Division Units | 9
- Minor Residency Requirement | 6 Upper-Division Units in the minor at UNR
- Unit Limits: Per College of Liberal Arts policy, no more than 9 units counted toward any major may be reused to meet the requirements of this minor.

Complete two from the following. Courses chosen must come from two different subject prefixes. C. Electives (12 units)
