Accounting Fundamentals, Graduate Certificate (Online)

This is an online program.  

The certificate in accounting fundamentals program is designed for students who wish to advance their accounting knowledge beyond basic bookkeeping. It covers topics in financial accounting, cost, tax, and ethics. Students will learn technical accounting and tax skills and will acquire a broader understanding of the theoretical underpinnings and ethical issues of financial, managerial and tax reporting. The certificate program will prepare students for jobs in accounting related fields and also provides them with the opportunity to eventually earn an advanced degree. 

Note: Students who are enrolled in this program solely are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

Program Learning Outcomes


Students will be able to:

  • record complex financial transactions and prepare financial statements according to U.S. GAAP.
  • prepare individual tax returns and understand the difference between financial and tax accounting issues.
  • explain ethical issues in accounting and understand the responsibilities of the accounting profession.
