GEOL 330 - Introduction to Geochemistry (3 units) CO9 Introduction to the chemistry of geologic processes, including low-temperature aqueous geochemistry and petrogeochemistry.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 121A and CHEM 121L or CHEM 201 ; GEOL 211 .

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate familiarity with the chemistry of geological processes, under a variety of geological and environmental conditions. 2. apply geochemical principles to the comprehension and resolution of geological processes and problems with regard to academic, industrial and societal issues. 3. communicate geochemical concepts efficiently and effectively to both scientists and non-scientists. 4. demonstrate understanding of the application of geochemical principles to society’s need for energy, commodities and resources. 5. apply geochemical principles towards understanding economic, historic, and/or societal impacts, with emphasis upon air quality and climate, and water quality issues.
