SPA 364 - Introduction to Speech Sound Disorders (3 units) Etiology, assessment and treatment of articulation and phonological disorders.
Prerequisite(s): SPA 201 ; SPA 320 ; SPA 366 . Corequisite(s): SPA 340 .

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. differentiate between articulation and phonological disorders. 2. interpret the results of an articulation evaluation. 3. identify appropriate targets to use in therapy. 4. select an empirically supported treatment for the type of articulation or phonological error and relate it to a specific theory. 5. demonstrate ability to take and interpret date to determine when therapy targets will change. 6. demonstrate ability to determine when it is appropriate to dismiss an individual from therapy.
