THTR 403 - Lighting Design II

(3 units) CO14
This course builds on THTR 203 fundamentals, focusing on script analysis, research, concept development, and professional presentation skills. Students will engage in discussion, observation, and hands-on projects throughout the semester, creating complete design packages for various theatrical venues, addressing technical challenges of different spaces. The course covers organization, paperwork, cueing, plotting, and the collaborative process from concept to opening night.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. translate conceptual work into practical applications. 
2. clearly communicate ideas to collaborators and technicians.
3. use advanced electrical theory and photometric calculations to create and implement a light plot for a variety of venues.
4. research, analyze, visualize, produce and implement a complete theatrical lighting design using the standards of the profession.
