SPA 364 - Introduction to Speech Sound Disorders (3 units) Etiology, assessment and treatment of articulation and phonological disorders.
Prerequisite(s): SPA 301 ; SPA 320 ; SPA 340 . Corequisite(s): SPA 330 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to differentiate between articulation and phonological disorders. 2. Students will be able to interpret the results of an articulation evaluation. 3. Students will be able to identify appropriate targets to use in therapy. 4. Students will be able to select an empirically supported treatment for the type of articulation or phonological error and relate it to a specific theory. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to take and interpret date to determine when therapy targets will change. 6. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to determine when it is appropriate to dismiss an individual from therapy.
